About
CASS Cares
Our Mission
CASS Cares (Community Access Support Services) is dedicated to building a stronger community that focuses on enhancing the well-being and empowerment of veterans who have experienced homelessness. We believe it is not a privilege, but a right of every veteran and U.S. citizen to have shelter, food, and clothing.
We respond to crisis head-on because lives are on the line. When rent rises and paychecks don’t stretch, when unexpected emergencies strike, we provide immediate relief while building long-term stability. Our goal isn’t just to house veterans—it’s to empower them to regain control over their lives and move from homelessness to homeownership.
Our Approach
Unlike organizations that provide temporary assistance, CASS Cares operates with a “for life” philosophy. We recognize that every veteran’s journey is unique, and their natural support systems are different.
That’s why we provide ongoing, individualized support with no predetermined timeline—because lasting change takes time, and we’re committed to walking alongside our veterans for as long as they need us.
Dignity
Every veteran deserves to be treated
with respect and honor.
Attentiveness
One-size-fits-all doesn't always work. Every veteran's needs are unique.
Inclusion
We serve all veterans regardless of background, identity, or circumstances.
Commitment
We don't abandon veterans after initial assistance. We care for life.
Empowerment
Our goal is helping veterans regain control and independence in their lives.

Our History
Honoring our Remarkable founding Veteran, Airman William R. Smith II:
Entering basic training after graduating from college in 1974. His father told him after college, “Boy, you gots 4 choices: Army, Air Force, Navy, or Marines since you come home later than me at night.” Traveling the world, meeting people from many walks of life – joining the Air Force was the best thing his father ever did for him. A life of many choices, through ups and down, now he is here to say, “We see you!” Thank you to our Founder, William R. Smith II for your service to the USAF during the Vietnam Era (August 5, 1964, through May 7, 1975).
